What is it?

'Hot Ink' is a Mardi Gras tattoo party for the queer community and their straight friends.  It is an official part of Bear Essential 15 and the 2011 Mardi Gras Festival.

You do not have to have tattoos yourself to appreciate skin art on others. All are welcome for a great night of visual pleasure.

 

When is it?

Thursday 3rd March 2011. Doors open at 7pm and the tattoo competitions start at 8pm. You'll be amazed by the Suspension Performance by 'Bitch Faggot and the Lioness' at 9pm, followed by the remaining tattoo competitions. Then while Rotten Robbie, the DJ from San Francisco, plays some great music, you hit the dance floor or enjoy a quiet drink in the Polo Bar above the Supper club.

 

Where is it?

The Supper Club on the first floor of the Oxford Hotel at Taylor Square.

 

How much does it cost to get in?

Discounted tickets are online at Daisytickets.com: $20 & $15 New Mardi Gras members & HCB/DOB.

At the door: $25/$20.

There is no additional fee to take part in the competitions.  Everyone with ink on their skin is invited to take part. Registration is between 7 and 8pm.

 

Who is on stage at Hot Ink?

Ms Sandy Bottom, well-known tattooed Sydney Cabaret performer and Geoff Ostling, winner of the 2008 Melbourne Cup of Tattooing.

Our DJ is Rotton Robbie from San Francisco.

• Male and Female 'belles of the ball' (chosen by popular acclaim) with two $300 gym memberships from Gold's Gym as prizes.

 

Prizes:

Some $3 000 worth of Vouchers have been donated by tattoo studios, piercing studios, bookshops, Gold's Gym and the Oxford Hotel for prizes.  There will also be T-shirts, beer vouchers and other consolation prizes.  They will all be worth winning.
